Scarology is a scar cream product that prioritizes using ingredients not found in any other over the counter cream. It’s made by a husband and wife physician duo with over twenty years of experience. They created Scarology out of necessity because they couldn’t find a scar treatment cream to recommend to patients. Therefore, Dr. Michael and Dr. Jeanmarie Connor decided to make one.
This cream claims to be useful to treat all types of scars. You can use it to treat acne scars, burn scars, c-section scars, and other types. The interesting thing about Scarology is that it isn’t one product; it’s multiple products put into one bundle. The bundle you use depends on what type of scar you have.
The Scarology main line of products consists of three items: the Natural Fruit Acid Skin Exfoliator, the Ultimate Scar Removal Cream, and the Silicone Scar Sheets.
- Natural Fruit Acid Exfoliator. The first step in the Scarology 3-step treatment is exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and regenerate healthy skin. This process diminishes the appearance of the scar.
- Ultimate Scar Treatment Cream. The second step is applying this cream to reduce inflammation and improve the immune system. The cream hydrates the layers of the scar and reduces the appearance and color of the scar.
- Silicone Scar Sheets. After applying the cream, use the silicone scar sheet to compress the scar. It’s best to use this sheet during the night. The sheet protects the scar while you sleep and promotes strong cell growth.
Scarology claims to be unique because it uses this exfoliation process before applying the cream. It claims that no other product uses an exfoliation process to treat a scar. But we know of at least one other product that also uses an exfoliator, and that is the ZENMED Skin Eraser Kit. If you’re looking for a scar treatment that has exfoliation, take a look at our ZENMED review for comparison.
What Are the Ingredients
Interestingly, we couldn’t find a list of ingredients on the official website or image of the product. It’s unusual for a skin cream product not to list the ingredients, especially when it is made by a team of physicians. However, we did find an ingredient list not from the official site as follows:
Purified water, Glycolic Acid, Xanthum Gum, Lactic Acid, Pyruvic Acid, Squalene, Silicone, Betula Alba, Salix Alba, Hyaluronic Acid
Since there are three products in the bundle, it isn’t clear which of these ingredients are for which product. It may be the case that the ingredient is a proprietary blend, considering that the website claims they use ingredients not found in any other product.
How to Apply Scarology
First, use the Natural Fruit Acid Exfoliator in the morning. Massage the scar for up to 3 minutes, and then rinse it clean. After that, use the Ultimate Scar Cream twice a day, once in the morning and the other in the evening. Use the Silicone Scar Sheet on your scar before you go to sleep.
The directions say to use for at least three months on new scars, and up to 12 months on old scars. Since Scarology is quite an expensive option, you may need to spend some amount of money if you require one year of treatment (other creams don’t cost as much and can save you money).
Scarology Review – Does it Work?
Although the product is very professionally made and offers different products for different treatments, we didn’t find that many reviews about Scarology. From the reviews we did find, most customers are happy with the quality of the product and the results it delivers.
Pros:
- One mother used it on her daughter’s scar, and after one week it was 50% less visible
- One customer used Scarology for one month, and her skin cancer scar became unnoticeable
- Another mother used it to heal a burn scar within 3 months on her 2-year old daughter*
- A woman used it on her eye, and after four months the cancer surgery scar is almost gone
The con about this cream is that it doesn’t work at all for some people. *Scarology says that their product shouldn’t be used on children younger than two years old.
Scarology vs. Mederma
Mederma gets more favorable reviews than Scarology. Mederma is one of the most affordable scar creams we recommend, while Scarology is expensive but offers a thorough treatment for all types of scars. Mederma recommends 180 days of treatment while Scarology recommends 365 days of treatment for old scars.
Mederma uses onion extract as an ingredient. Scarology says that onion extract is considered an ineffective ingredient for treating scars. However, we couldn’t find an ingredient list for Scarology (based on our research so far). We recommend Mederma as an overall better product, but if you’re looking for an all-in-one treatment, then Scarology is a good option.
Where to Buy Scarology?
You can buy Scarology from the official site or online stores. If you buy from the official site, you can get free shipping (in the U.S). They offer a 60-day money back guarantee, and based on what we’ve found, the company honors that guarantee.
- Innovative scar fade treatment system for use on old and new scars
- Recommended by doctors: dermatologist, plastic surgeons, OB/GYNs, general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons
- Ingredients: purified water, glycolic acid, xanthum gum, lactic acid, pyruvic acid, squalene, silicone, betula alba, salix alba, hyaluronic acid
- Perfect for surgical scars following plastic surgery, removal of skin cancer, Mohs surgery, C-section, reconstructive surgery, trauma
- Doctor created. Clinically proven. Safe. Easy to use. 1-2-3. Effective. Satisfaction guaranteed.
The price of Scarology is higher compared to other brands of the best scar removal creams we review. It’s because you can get three products in one if you buy the bundle. You can also buy just one item at a time, but you won’t be able to follow the 3-step treatment recommended by Scarology. There is a discount offer if you register on their official site, so you can do that if you want to save money.
