*Martini* asked:

I know I’m a guy an it’s a bit of a girly question but anyway in winter my skin goes quite pasty/pale, my nose goes red and I develop quite a lot of blackheads/spots how do I prevent this.

Thanks
what do you mean by moisturise?

Great article! Thank you for putting it together. Potential patients will be better served going with a service like The Patients Advantage (www.ThePatientsAdvantage.com). It’s a great way to find the best surgeons and it does not cost anything. I found them when searching for Microdermabrasion specialists. Check them out.

i use strips that you stick on your forehead, chin and nose that you leave on for about 10 minutes and they clear blackheads… you can see the difference straight away :)

    Coochy_COO!

Deink at least 2 litres of water everyday and moisturise, moisturise, moisturise.

EDIT: When I mean moisturise, I mean get a good quality moisturiser, like Nivea and apply twice a day, in the morning and evening.

Drink plenty of water, and moisturise with Nivea-and NEVER use acne products like Clearasil, they are too strong for the skin.

Drink water, and find a good moisturizing face lotion for men. Use that every night after washing your face with a cleanser (i think they also have these for men as well; check drugstores, or Target for the lotion and face wash.). I think your main problem is that your skin is drying out in the winter, and with dry skin, your body produces more oil to try and heal it..which leads to breakouts and blackheads.
Good luck! :) hope i helped.
oh, and eating healthy helps a lot too :)

I don’t know if it will be helpful to you but, when I was younger I had really bad skin problems and I found it helpful to do the following:
    1. wash my face regularly with little or no soap (if using soap, only use VERY mild soap) rinse thoroughly!
    2. change my pillowcase almost every night / complete bed linens 2-3 times a week.
    3. watch and monitor the skin changes (for better or worse) in relationship to dietary changes.
    4. if all else fails, see a dermatologist.

    Good luck!

drink lots of water and try eating healthy foods, also get a good nights sleep.
Sunbeds are an option but that could be a bit girly, tho you wouldnt have to over-do it, just a few sessions to give your skin a bit of a glow to take away the pasty look,

after washing your face rinse with COLD water when I was young (many many moons ago)we didn’t have hot water and it was a task to wash with cold water especially in winter but I can honestly say I never had facial spots

I use Proactiv, it works really well. Tanning for a couple minutes in a tanning bed will help the pasty-ness, though.

what i did. stay away from greasy foods and carbonated drinks. eat healthy (i.e. milk, water, juice, fruits, veggies) if you decide to use a mask, or exfoliate, do it only once a week or it irritates the skin. mosturize after you wash your face. best products to use is marykay. my mom sells it. it works wonders! it will make your face look amazing. hope this helps!

Ok its time for me to get really girly on you so exfoliate your face…buy any kind of exfoliator (you’ll be able to find one in boots) and you gently rub it on your face in circular motions once a week, this will remove the dirt and dead skin cells which can cause spots. The other days buy a mens face wash and you do the same only it cleanses the skin rather than rubbing off layers. Then you would want to moisturise your skin, again in boots buy a face mosturiser and again apply a thin layer to your face morning and night in circular motions, this should stop you getting a red nose from dryness. If you are feeling exceptionally brave, and know no one is coming round, get a face mask on, a mud mask is great for cleansing pores which can make your skin look tired and dull once a week should be enough. Eat lots of fresh fruit and veg and drink plenty water. One thing please never use soap on your face!!
